ADVERSARY?

It is not possible for anyone to really be a serious adversary of Lord Krishna.

"Because it is not possible to be a bona fide rival of the Lord, the King of Cedi was extremely malicious toward Lord Kṛṣṇa." SB3.2.19 purport

Sisupala saw Lord Krishna but he saw Him as an enemy. After all Sisupala wanted to marry Rukmini and Lord Krishna kidnapped her. That was a tough one to take for a proud kshatriya king.

Since it was not possible for Sisupala to actually be of an real danger to Lord Krishna he simply developed a malicious attitude. He stood up at the Rajasuya sacrifice and spoke ill of Lord Krishna as if Lord Krishna were an ordinary person with questionable family background and no good qualities. That was about all that Sisupala could really do to try to hurt the Lord. Sisupala had already been defeated militarily when he tried to stop the Lord from taking Rukmini away.

Sisupala was killed by the Lord. At the moment of Sisupala's death everyone present saw a light leave Sisupala's body and enter the body of Lord Krishna. He attained liberation. He was Krishna conscious but he was not appreciative of the Lord... His pastimes, His activities, His associates, etc. so he couldn't go to any of the planets in the spiritual sky. But he could be allowed to reside in the brahmajyoti.

Yogis and jnanis strive with great efforts to enter the brahmajyoti. It is the goal of their meditation, sacrifices, austerities, mantras, etc. Sisupala entered by having an unfavorable, malicious attitude towards the Personality of Godhead.

"It is a fact that persons who are trying to understand the Supreme Truth by their personal endeavors of mental speculation or mystic powers of yoga achieve the same goal as others who are personally killed by the Lord." SB 3.2.19 purport

Somehow all these jnanis, yogis and demons must all have something in common. It would have to be that they do not have a favorable attitude of appreciation, just for starters at least some appreciation, of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
