TUG OF WAR

It appears that there is always a tug of "war" between the rasika devotees and the varnashrama and vaiddhi bhakti crowd.
The rasika devotee is spontaneously Krishna conscious. The varnashram devotees and vaiddhi bhakti devotees are not spontaneously Krishna conscious but they perform activities under the direction of a spiritual master who is... and under a code of conduct that minimizes karmic reactions.
The non-spontaneous people try to limit the rasika devotee from expressing their ecstasy of devotion because they do not recognize it nor have realization of it. As soon a rasika devotee begins to speak about the glories of the Holy Name or glorify Krishna lila the vaiddhis and the varnasrhama crowd are quick to chastise, instruct and admonish warning of the dangers of prakrta sahajiya and the importance and even supremacy of vaiddhi bhakti and varnashrama. Minimizing the glorification, offending the rasika and missing the ultimate goal. Spontaneous devotion to Krishna.
By performing vaiddi bhakti and acting in varnashrama alone (even varnashrama "for" Krishna) no one attains spontaneous devotion. It is not possible to attain Vraja lila by performing vaiddhi bhakti or by acting in varnashrama dharma even perfectly (if that were ever possible). It is only by the mercy of the Pure Devotee and Krishna.
It is not achieved simply by acting this way or that "alone."
"If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit a water, I will accept it.. BG 9.26
The vaiddhi bhakti and the daivi varnashrama follower have the first part down ... offering the items... but the other part... the essential ingredient "with love and devotion" is still missing. The rasika has that essential ingredient.
When the desire is pure and very, very intense. Complete surrender.
Only then is Krishna pleased to reveal Himself.
