PYGMY SIZE

Krishna Book this morning... Chapter 51 Krishna and Balarama "running away" from Jarasanda on the battle field and the proposal of marriage to Krishna from Rukmini...Chock full of spiritual juice, the nectar of eternal life, in every paragraph.
This stood out when I read it. I'd read this before and it always felt like a bump in the road but I never really looked at it until this morning. This is an account of an occurrence five thousand years ago.
When Mucukunda came out of the cave after resting for a very long time... thousands of years...the people and the trees were all noticeably reduced in size.... from the previous yuga...pigmy size. That's us. Now it is even five thousand years later. Our bodies are small, our intelligence is weak...we are always prone to argue. That's us. Our bodies are small. And everyone will get smaller as the age progresses.
I have experience of that. As a child our family would take very interesting trips. We didn't have much money, two hard working parents, but my mother and father would find interesting things to do. They were curious about cultures and history and nature. They were good parents. Simple, clean and honest, albeit stubbornly attached to material life... they believed in going higher next time.
Anyway, we visited a museum. Not sure where it was, I was very young... but there was an exhibit of coats of mail... the armor the warriors would wear at the time of Charlemagne of France in the 8th century AD. My mother was in awe of how large the armor was... and heavy. The persons wearing these would have to have been over eight feet tall.
"When Mucukunda , the celebrated descendant of the Iksvaku dynasty, was favored by Lord Krishna, he circumambulated the Lord within the cave and then came out. On coming out of the cave, Mucukunda saw that the stature of the human species had surprisingly been reduced to pigmy size. Similarly, the trees had also far reduced in size, and Mucukunda could immediately understand that the current age was Kali yuga." KB 51
