FOR A SINCERE PERSON

How important is this verse?
For a sincere person seeking the highest Truth
It is essential.
"A sober person who can tolerate the urge to speak, the mind’s demands, the actions of anger and the urges of the tongue, belly and genitals is qualified to make disciples all over the world." NOI 1
If we hear from those who do not have this "qualification"
we will become disturbed.
Our own ability to tolerate the urge to speak,
to tolerate to our own mind's demands,
to tolerate our own actions of anger,
and urges of our own tongue, belly and genitals
will be lost and we will be tossed
into the grips of the illusory energy.
This extends to anyone we meet.
If we hear from "anyone" who does not have these qualification,
we will experience this same misery.
That is why "sincerity" is the only qualification
for spiritual advancement.
If we are sincere we will experience this.
Accepting someone as a spiritual master means
someone we submissively hear from.
Someone we accept has having spiritual authority.
This extends also to accepting someone
who claims to be representing
and serving a spiritual master.
If that representative does not value the items
Srila Rupa Goswami Prabhupada lists in this verse
of Upadesamrta (The Nectar of Instruction)
then they should be rejected as representing spiritual authority.
I wear this verse as a protective shield.
