JARASANDHA DID NOT PLUNDER MATHURA

After destroying Kalayavana and then his army Krishna turned His attention to Jarasandha who had also attacked Mathura at the same time as Kalayavana. It was the eighteenth time and this time Jarasandha's army was even bigger.
But Krishna was not interested in fighting with him and left the battlefield unarmed and on foot with Balarama. They climbed a mountain. Jarasandha set the mountain on fire and concluded that Krishna and Balarama had died in the fire. But the transcendental brothers jumped eighty-eight miles from the top of the mountain to the ground. That's a chuckle. No ordinary humans here.
"Jarasandha concluded that the two brothers had been burned to ashes and that there was no need of further fighting. Thinking himself successful in his efforts, he left the city of Mathura and returned to his home in the kingdom of Magadha." KB 51
Again this is something that strikes me as odd. Jarasanda did not plunder Mathura which would seem reasonable after "winning" a battle and "killing" the opponent. He was not interested at all in Mathura or the opulence there...the ladies...only in killing Krishna and Balarama. I find that remarkable.
But Krishna had by this time arranged for the safety and protection of his relatives and friends at Dvarka the fort in the sea. I wonder who was in Mathura. Was it just an abandoned "ghost town?" There must have been someone living there.
