IDENTIFYING WITH SOMETHING WE ARE NOT

Do we seek a spiritual master so that He can show us
how awful we are?
How fallen we are?
How useless and pathetic we are?
How unlovable, unacceptable, unattractive we are?
How hopeless we are?
What miserable wretches we are?
How disgusting we are?
Is that the purpose of a spiritual master?

Or does the spiritual master show us how much we are loved.
How dear we are.
How whatever minuscule service we are able to perform is eagerly
accepted with overwhelming appreciation.
How beautiful we really are.
How valuable we are.
How much ecstasy we are capable of?
How we are not this material condition..........
which is miserable, unattractive, unacceptable, disgusting, and hopeless.

If we are experiencing misery we are identifying with something we are not.
