That Krishna's family members in Dvarka numbered a billion people in just two or three generations is quite something.
But a while back I had the opportunity to read "Chaitanya Bhagavata." There is the section describing the march on the Kazi's house to protest the stopping of sankirtan. Vrndavana das describes that there were so many people at the protest that no one knew where they all came from. Many, many more than could have possibly lived in Navadvipa. He describes there were millions and millions and they just kept coming. But no one knew where they were coming from...
