SERVING A CAUSE

     From the stand point of pure devotional service, serving the cause of all causes is the only cause worth serving. It is exactly like watering the root of a tree. All the leaves and branches benefit by watering the root.
     But the real benefit is not material improvement which invariably comes as a by product. The real benefit of serving the cause of all causes is complete and perfect alignment of the self within with the source of the self, or Krishna, God, who delivers one to the Spiritual Kingdom, beyond birth, death, old age and disease and the miseries of temporary material existence.
     Such perfect alignment means one's entire self is absorbed in God, not of the least significance are the emotions for that is the region of heart. And as the common saying goes, "Home is where the heart is." 
     For the emotions to be absorbed in God, love is the via medium. Love of God is what gets us back home back to the Lord within the Heart. This has been made extremely simple and easy by the most recent incarnation of God 500 years ago in Bengal, Lord Sri Krishna Chaitanya. Hearing about His uncommon activities, His loving devotees, His all-attractive bodily features, His teachings, His pastimes, etc. from a devotee who is absorbed in love of God awakens love of God within the heart of the attentive hearer.
     The Lord is attracted by the love of His devotee. He reciprocates in loving exchanges and gives all good guidance from within.
